MG Motor India has unveiled the 2023 Hector facelift with styling and tech upgrades. Pricing info has been reserved for another date, but the new Hector will be available in 5-, 6- and 7-seater options.
The styling revisions are mainly on the front fascia where you’ll see a gigantic grille that went from XL to XXL—for the same reasons the grilles across the automotive industry are getting bigger and bigger. The grille now has a Diamond mesh pattern. On the side, things remain pretty much unchanged, including the 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.

And, if you walk towards the back of the car, there’s a new LED tailgate garnish that sort of connects the taillights. You can also notice a rather large H E C T O R branding on the tailgate, which is just as unnecessary as that of the Gloster. I mean, there’s no need to scream the car’s name, right?
On the inside then, there appear to be some significant changes. There’s a new dashboard with a curved panel that flows into the centre console. Dominating the dashboard is a 14-inch portrait-style touchscreen—which was previewed last July. You can also notice a 7-inch full digital instrument display.
Other key highlights include Digital Key; Infinity premium audio system; over 75 connected car features; wireless Android Auto & Apple Carplay connectivity; 6-way power-adjustable driver seat; dual-pane panoramic glass roof; ventilation for front seats; PM2.5 air filter, and more. Passive safety includes up to 6 airbags. Active safety systems include Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Front Collision Warning, and Automatic Emergency Braking. Do note that these active safety features are exclusive to the range-topping Savvy Pro trim.
Moving on to the juicy bits of the story then, the Hector continues to offer turbo petrol and turbo diesel options. The 1.5L (1,451 cc) 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine offers 105 kW (143 metric hp) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque. The engine can be paired with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a CVT.
The Fiat-sourced 2.0L (1,956 cc) 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine offers 125 kW (170 metric hp) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque. This engine can be paired only with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
