That’s right! Believe it or not, Tata Motors rolled-out its 50000th EV from its Pune facility, which was the Nexon EV MAX. No, Tata Motors didn’t produce 50,000 Nexon EVs, but the overall EV production reached the 50,000th milestone. Hope that clears up the confusion. The company’s first series-production EV was the Tigor EV—which interestingly, was initially available only for fleet operators and government institutions. In late 2019, it was made available to the general public with an improved range. In September 2021, the Tigor EV received a facelift with more improvements.
Tata Motors added the Nexon EV to its product portfolio in Jan 2020, followed by the Nexon EV MAX (long-range variant) in May 2022 and Nexon EV Prime in July 2022. The Prime was launched as a replacement for the original Nexon EV. At the end of September 2022, the Tiago EV joined the company’s EV lineup. In the not-too-distant future, the Altroz EV is expected to join as well. In an official statement, Tata Motors said that it is planning to launch 10 EVs in 5 years.
But of course, it’s the Nexon EV that most people are buying—for obvious reasons—it’s an SUV. The MAX variant, especially, offers a bit more power and torque in addition to extra range.
