You probably remember that earlier this year, Porsche bosses Oliver Blume and Lutz Meschke shared some interesting information on the brand’s financials and what to expect in the future when it comes to new products. And one of those new products is gonna be an all-electric version of the 718, with styling cues and technology borrowed from the Mission R concept, or at least that was the original plan.
Well, it appears that Porsche has begun working on this all-electric version of the 718, especially the Boxster version of it. A test mule disguised as an ICE-powered 718 Boxster was spotted recently out in the wild somewhere in Europe. However, notice that the exhaust outlet is fully closed (or, “fake”, if you prefer that term), suggesting that this is an all-electric Porsche Boxster test mule.
The electric 718 models are expected to go on sale in 2025, but the global debut is expected a bit earlier, in late 2023. But before the electric 718, the electric Macan is expected to show up, because Porsche has been working on it for more than two years now.
