Jeep has announced a bunch of updates for the Compass lineup for 2023 for the U.S. market, scheduled to go on sale in the first quarter of 2023. Trim lineup for 2023 includes Sport, Latitude, Latitude LUX, Limited and the rugged Trail Rated Trailhawk. There’ll also be a special-edition Compass (RED) model—which is gonna help fund life-saving health programs around the world in partnership with the (RED) organization.

Visually, you get three new colors: Diamond Black, Billet Silver and Redline Pearl-Coat. The Altitude package is available on the Latitude trim (left photo), offering a black-painted roof, 18-inch gloss black aluminum wheels, and gloss black exterior badges and accents. On the inside, the package gets you seats upholstered in a premium black vinyl-cloth combo with black stitching; a premium-wrapped steering wheel, and piano black accents.

The Limited trim can be upgraded with the High Altitude package, which gets you body-color-painted front and rear lower fascias with Neutral Grey accents, painted side flares, dual-pane panoramic sunroof, a full suite of premium LED lighting and stylish 19-inch painted Granite Crystal aluminum wheels.

The 2023 Compass lineup also receives an updated wheel lineup, with distinctive designs up to 19-inches and blacked-out options. The Trailhawk model comes with new gloss black wheels, while Sport and Latitude models receive a new 17-inch painted alloy wheel design.

Nothing has changed on the inside, you can still get the optional 10.25-inch digital driver display, optional wireless charging pad, and optional 9-speaker Alpine audio system. However, you do get previously-optional and now-standard 10.1-inch central touchscreen (8.4-inch standard previously) and standard wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto connectivity.

A rear seat reminder is a new addition that notifies the driver that an occupant might be in the back seat prior to exiting the vehicle. Drowsy driver detection is also standard on all trims.

Additional standard and available safety features on the 2023 Jeep Compass include:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go (standard on Limited and Trailhawk; available on Latitude and Latitude LUX)
  • Active Lane Management
  • LaneSense Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist
  • Blind-spot Monitoring
  • Rear Cross Path Detection
  • Full-Speed Forward Collision Warning with Active Braking
  • Advanced Brake Assist
  • Automatic Emergency Braking
  • Pedestrian/Cyclist Automatic Emergency Braking
  • Highway Assist semi-autonomous driving system (available on Limited and Trailhawk)
  • ParkView rear backup camera
  • ParkSense Front Park Assist sensors (standard on Limited and Trailhawk)

  • Surround View Camera (available on Latitude models and above)

But the most important update comes in the form of powertrain swap. For the American market, the 2.4-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine is swapped for a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo petrol, offering 149 kW (200 bhp/203 metric hp) and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) of torque. The engine is coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Jeep says that the Jeep Active Drive 4×4 system is now standard on all models, while the Trailhawk model equipped with Jeep Active Drive Low 4×4 system offers 20:1 crawl ratio—claimed to be class-leading.
