Jeep has launched the 5th gen Grand Cherokee in India, priced at INR 77.5 lakh, ex-showroom, Pan India. The price is “introductory”, which means there’ll a price revision in the coming months.
While in the international markets, the new Grand Cherokee is available in multiple flavors with petrol and petrol-electric PHEV options, for the Indian market, there’s only one variant on offer. But with an ex-showroom price like that, Jeep will have a hard time selling just this one variant. But let’s let time decide the hard times or happy times.
In the meantime, let’s take a brief look at what’s on offer. Buyers get to choose from 4 exterior colors: Bright White, Diamond Black Crystal, Rocky Mountain (kinda greyish-green) and Velvet Red. LED headlights, 20-inch alloy wheels and a dual-pane panoramic sunroof come standard.
Key features on the inside include a 10.1-inch central touchscreen; a digital driver display; a full-color head-up display; a 10.25-inch front passenger display; auto-dimming digital rearview mirror; wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto connectivity; 8-way adjustable front seats with heating and ventilation, and safety systems such as 8 airbags, 360-degree surround view, drowsy driver detection, and occupant detection for all 5 passengers.
Powering the new Grand Cherokee in India is a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine with 203 kW (276 metric hp/272 bhp) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. The engine is coupled with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and Quadra-Trac I 4×4 System. The new Grand Cherokee claims to offer a superior ride and handling, thanks to the new virtual ball-joint front and multi-link rear suspension.
