Yamaha is showcasing the R1 GYTR concept mainly to promote the Genuine Yamaha Technology Racing (GYTR) parts—which are available at 17 GYTR Pro shops across Europe. The shops will be expanded to 25 in the coming months, catering to R1, R6, R7 and R3 customers. But guess what? Starting December 2022, Yamaha will also sell the 2023 R1 GYTR racing motorcycle at those GYTR Pro shops.
As mentioned, the R1 GYTR is a track-only motorcycle and is not homologated for road use. Yamaha claims that the motorcycle comes only with the necessary parts for track use and is equipped with over 25 carefully selected GYTR parts and an Akrapovič muffler and link-pipe system. The motorcycle is claimed to offer improved power output, rideability, braking and aerodynamics.
