Hinduja Group subsidiary Switch Mobility has revealed the EiV 22 electric double-decker bus for the Indian market. The company said that it has already secured an order of 200 such buses in Mumbai alone and is looking to grab orders from other key regions across the country.
The EiV 22 double-decker bus has a seating capacity of 65 passengers. It boasts passenger-focused features such as air conditioning, air purifiers, USB charging ports, onboard Wi-Fi, reading lights, and reclining seats.
The EiV 22 is powered by a permanent magnet AC motor that produces 235 kW (319.5 metric hp) peak power and 3,100 Nm (2,286 lb-ft) peak torque. The continuous power output, however, is 140 kW (190 metric hp). A 231 kWh NMC battery pack is claimed to offer a range of up to 250 km (155 mi). The rear end of the bus has been blessed with air suspension.
“Mumbai and double-deckers are synonymous with public transport, and we are certain that Switch EiV 22 will not only bring back fond memories for Mumbaikars but will transform the public transport space in terms of sustainability and footprint which is the need of the hour in India,” said Mahesh Babu, CEO, Switch Mobility India.
