Toyota has launched the 4th gen Yaris sedan called ‘Yaris Ativ’ in Thailand, with prices starting at THB 539,000 (INR 12.14 lakh or US$ 15,242). Depending on the market, the new Yaris Ativ might also be offered as ‘Vios’. It is unrelated to the 4th gen Yaris hatchback and the GR Yaris; meaning it’s built on a different platform. But anyway, for the Thai market, the new Yaris Ativ will be available in four trims:
Trim | THB |
Sport | 539,000 |
Smart | 584,000 |
Premium | 659,000 |
Premium Luxury | 689,000 |
The new Yaris Ativ sports a rather serious face for its size and tries to look like one of its larger siblings, such as the Camry. But the rear-three-quarter angles are more appealing, in my personal opinion. 16-inch alloy wheels come standard. As for exterior colors, there are 7 options: Spicy Scarlet, Urban Metal, Super White, Metal Stream, Red Mica Metallic, Attitude Black Mica and Platinum White Pearl. The last color costs THB 7,000 extra, and I’ve no clue what some of the other colors are.
Depending on the trim, features inside would include a 9-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay & Android Auto connectivity, genuine leather upholstery, auto AC with PM 2.5 filter, up to 4 USB sockets, a 7-inch MID, 64-color ambient lighting, and more. Safety and assistance systems include 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, Vehicle Stability Control, Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alert, Pedal Misoperation Control, Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control, and more.
The new Yaris Ativ is powered by a 1.2-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine (3NR-VE) with 69 kW (94 metric hp) and 110 Nm (81 lb-ft) of torque, paired with a CVT. There are three modes to play with: Eco, Normal and Sport. Toyota claims a fuel economy of 23.3 km/l.
