The Magnite was the one that pulled Nissan India out of life support, and the sub-4 metre crossover currently enjoys being one of the popular budget automobiles in the country. It’s yet to complete its 2nd anniversary, but earlier this year, the Magnite reached its 50,000th milestone, which is pretty big for a brand that is not a Maruti in India. However, you gotta stay in the news, else you know what happens, right? And so, Nissan has launched the Magnite Red Edition, with prices starting at INR 7.87 lakh, ex-showroom, Pan India.

Variant ex-Showroom Price (in INR)
XV MT 786,500
XV Turbo MT 924,500
XV Turbo CVT 999,900

As the above list suggests, the Magnite Red Edition is based on the XV trim—which slots just below the XV Premium, and is available on both naturally aspirated and turbocharged petrol engines.

So, what’s all the hoopla about? Well, as you can probably tell, the Red Edition is all about visual enhancements. On the exterior, the front grille features subtle red accents, and on the side, there’s a red & silver decal that runs along the shoulder line, and there’s also a subtle red accent on the lower part of the door cladding. The C-pillar features golf ball-like graphics.

Inside, the Magnite Red Edition features a black and red dual-tone theme, with red on the dashboard, seats and door cards. The seats have a unique pattern. The rest of the features have been carried over from the regular XV trim, such as a 7.0-inch TFT instrument cluster, an 8.0-inch touchscreen, auto AC, etc.

No mechanical changes, obviously. The Magnite offers a 1.0-litre (999 cc) 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine with 53 kW (72 metric hp) and 96 Nm (71 lb-ft) of torque, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. For those who want more, there’s a 1.0-litre (999 cc) 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with 74 kW (100 metric hp) and 160 Nm (118 lb-ft) of torque; this engine can be paired with either a 5-speed manual or a CVT.
