Ather Energy has updated its 450 electric scooter with a few improvements including its ‘TrueRange’. The so-called Gen 3 Ather 450 Plus is priced at INR 1,17,495 and Gen 3 Ather 450X is priced at INR 1,39,005. Both prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.
So, what are these Gen 3 updates anyway? Well, let’s start with the battery pack. Both 450 Plus and 450X get a 3.7 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which is up from 2.4 kWh offered in the previous 450 and 2.9 kWh offered in the previous 450X. The usable capacity, however, is 2.6 kWh and 3.24 kWh in 450 Plus and 450X, respectively.
The TrueRange in Eco mode is 85 km (53 mi) in 450 Plus and 105 km (65 mi) in 450X. The 450X also gets an additional Warp mode as you probably know, which gets you only a 65 km (40.4 mi) range. The Warp mode is where the motor’s peak power and max torque get unlocked. Speaking of peak power and max torque, the 450 Plus offers 5.4 kW (7.3 metric hp) and 22 Nm (16.2 lb-ft), while the 450X packs 6.2 kW (8.4 metric hp) and 26 Nm (19.2 lb-ft). As for fast-charging capabilities, a 10 min charging is claimed to add a 15 km (9.3 mi) range in the 450X. Download the spec sheet here.
Other improvements include tyres that are claimed to offer 22% better grip on wet roads; 80% faster dashboard interactions (smoother maps and faster loading of apps); improved mirrors (2X wider visibility and 20% lighter mirrors), and collapsible side step.
