Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL) has launched the second-gen Brezza in the country, with prices starting at INR 7.99 lakh, ex-showroom, Pan India. As before, the Brezza comes with a petrol-electric mild-hybrid powertrain, with manual and automatic options. The following prices are in INR and ex-showroom:
Variants | Manual | Automatic |
LXi | 7,99,000 | – |
VXi | 9,46,500 | 10,96,500 |
ZXi | 10,86,500 | 12,36,500 |
ZXi dual-tone | 11,02,500 | 12,52,500 |
ZXi+ | 12,30,000 | 13,80,000 |
ZXi+ dual-tone | 12,46,000 | 13,96,000 |
Obviously, there are some significant changes in the new Brezza compared with the outgoing model. In case you didn’t notice, the “Vitara” moniker has been dropped this time, and the vehicle is now simply called ‘Brezza’ and not Vitara Brezza. MSIL did the same with the launch of the third-gen Dzire in 2017 when it dropped the “Swift” moniker. I guess the strategy is to use a well-established nameplate for a new product until that product itself gets well-established. Well, fair enough.
But anyway, the new Brezza gets a thorough styling update with new front & rear fascias, with a bold ‘BREZZA’ branding on the latter. But personally, I prefer the outgoing model’s looks.
Key exterior features depending on the trim include twin-pod projector LED headlights, LED rear combo lights, roof rails, a shark fin antenna, 16-inch alloy wheels, and an electric sunroof. As for paint options, you have Sizzling Red, Brave Khaki, Exuberant Blue, Magma Grey, Splendid Silver and Pearl Arctic White options. Those who want a dual-tone scheme, can pick from Sizzling Red with Midnight Black roof, Brave Khaki with Arctic White roof, and Splendid Silver with Midnight Black roof options.
The refreshed interior features a dashboard that looks more Toyota rather than a Suzuki, but you already know what’s happening right? Anyway, key features include a 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen, a 7-inch SmartPlay Pro touchscreen for lesser variants, Android Auto & Apple CarPlay connectivity, wireless smartphone charging, auto AC, rear AC vents, rear USB charging ports, Arkamys sound tuning, driver seat height adjustment, a head-up display, and more. Safety features include LED front fog lights, airbags (front, side and curtain), ABS with EBD, front seat belt reminder, rear defogger, a 360-degree camera view, hill-hold assist, and a few more.
Powering the second-gen Brezza is a 1.5-litre (1,462 cc) 4-cylinder naturally aspirated K15C petrol engine combined with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. The output figures are 75.8 kW (103 metric hp) at 6000 rpm and 136.8 Nm (101 lb-ft) of torque at 4400 rpm. The engine can be paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
