It’s not mine, it’s not yours, it’s NEO’s you mfkers!
Yamaha has been using the nameplate NEO’s for a 50 cc scooter in Europe since the late ’90s, and since now we are in 2022, the nameplate has been transferred to a new electric scooter, of course. The electric NEO’s will be available in select European markets from May 2022. Prices start from £3,005 (INR 300,380) in the UK.
The electric NEO’s sports a clean and sophisticated styling with full LED twin-eye headlights that pay homage to the original 50 cc NEO’s. Buyers have two color options: Milky White and Midnight Black, both of which are contrasted with Aqua color accents and badges.
Key features include full LED lighting (including turn signals), 13-inch cast alloy wheels with low-resistance tyres, KYB front forks, LCD instrument panel, 27 litres of underseat storage, and of course, a removable lithium-ion battery pack (1 kWh, 50.4-volt) that weighs about 8 kg (18 lbs).
The new NEO’s is powered by a brushless electric motor at the wheel hub that offers a power output of 2.06 kW (2.8 metric hp) at 40 km/h (25 mph) in STD mode and 1.58 kW (2.1 metric hp) at 30 km/h (19 mph) in ECO mode. However, the power output is reduced across the entire speed range to extend battery life for a range of approximately 38.5 km (24 mi) on a full charge. The optional second battery can extend the range to approximately 68 km (42.2 mi), Yamaha said. The scooter comes with a special connector for that. The battery pack is claimed to take approximately 8 hours to get fully juiced up.
