Mercedes-Benz has revealed the G-Class Edition 550 for the U.S. market, limited to 200 units. The special edition is available in three exterior colors: Jupiter Red, Arabian Grey and Moonlight White; all of which are the company’s Manufaktur (bespoke division) colors. Mercedes didn’t share the pricing though, which means those interested gonna have to check with their nearest authorized dealer.
As the name suggests, the special edition is based on the G 550 variant (petrol) and not the AMG G 63. So don’t get confused on that one. But anyway, no matter which color you choose from the aforementioned three options, the elements such as the bull bar/brush bar, the bumpers, the wheel arches, the mirror caps, the spare wheel cover, the badges and logos, and of course, the 20-inch wheels, are all gonna be in black.
Inside, the G-Class Edition 550 features two-tone Nappa leather upholstery with diamond stitching; active multi-contour front seats, and carbon fibre decorative elements.
No mechanical changes, obviously. The G 550 packs a 4.0L biturbo V8 petrol engine (M176, wet sump) with 310 kW (421 metric hp) and 610 Nm (450 lb-ft) of torque. The engine is coupled with a 9-speed automatic gearbox and a two-speed transfer case.
