In less than two and half years of its debut, the all-electric Porsche Taycan has earned accolades worth two and half decades. And so, it only makes sense to promote it as a new Formula E safety car—all set to make its racetrack debut at the opening round of the Formula E 2021-22 season on 28th and 29th January in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia.
The safety cars (there are two of ’em) are the range-topping Taycan Turbo S which boast up to 560 kW (761 metric hp) overboost power. The exterior is covered in a special wrap featuring colors of all 11 teams competing in the Championship, as well as the colors of the FIA and Formula E. Inside, the rear seats have been deleted and replaced with a roll cage, while the front section features Recaro carbon fibre bucket seats with six-point seatbelts. The centre console features toggle switches for flashing lights outside. A Marelli Logger system is also part of the conversion.
