MG Motor India is happy to share that it delivered a total of 2,798 units of ZS EV in the country in 2021, registering a growth of 145% compared with the year 2020. And apparently, a couple of customers exchanged their Hector for ZS EV and got 101% and 83% resale value for their old ICE SUVs.
MG claims that a customer from Pune sold his old Hector Smart diesel for INR 16.5 lakh (101% resale value) and paid only INR 7.95 lakh to take home a new ZS EV Exclusive variant. Another customer from Mumbai managed to get INR 14 lakh (83% resale value) for his 2019 Hector which cost him INR 16.78 lakh ex-showroom at the time, and paid the difference amount to acquire a new ZS EV. MG goes on to claim that the ZS EV is also the preferred second car for customers who have luxury marques like Mercedes, JLR, Volvo, etc.
But anyway, the ZS EV currently sold in India is a pre-facelift variant. Its single front motor offers 143 metric hp and 353 Nm (260 lb-ft) of torque. A 44.5 kWh battery pack is claimed to offer a range of up to 419 km (260.6 mi) on a full charge. Maybe if more people buy the ZS EV in the country, MG India might bring in the facelifted model that debuted in Europe last year.
