Just when you think V12s are almost dead, a big or a boutique carmaker somewhere announces a limited edition model packing a massive V12 engine. Take the recently announced Ferrari Daytona SP3, for example. I know these cars are produced in very limited numbers, but at least those small groups of people get to enjoy that glorious, multiple-orgasmic sound for a li’l bit longer before inevitably even those people are forced to drive in silent or with speaker-pumped fake noises, if you know what I mean.

And so, Aston Martin has announced the return of the V12 Vantage—sometime in 2022. According to the company, “it’s not just a Limited Edition, it’s a Final Edition,” whatever that means. No further details are available just yet, except for a short teaser clip of the V12’s roar. Needless to say, it sounds glorious, bodacious, voracious and quite infectious. The output figures might more or less be the same as those in the V12 Speedster: 515 kW (700 metric hp) and 753 Nm (555 lb-ft) of torque.
