Jeep has updated the Wrangler 4xe PHEV for 2022 for the European markets, with prices starting at €69,500 in Germany and €72,900 in Italy. In the LHD European markets, the 2022 Wrangler will be offered only as a PHEV. Highlights for 2022 include new customization options and further enhanced ADAS.
Speaking of which, buyers can specify a factory-installed Gorilla Glass windshield or Corning Gorilla Glass windshield; the latter is standard on Rubicon, and is claimed to be up to three times more resistant to chips, cracks and fractures from stones and off-road debris. Buyers can also pick a new, ready-to-install Sunrider Flip Top—a soft top over the front row.
New Silver Zynith Metallic clear coat and High Velocity Metallic clear coat exterior paints join the Wrangler color palette. In addition, the head-turning Tuscadero (pink/fuchsia) and Gobi will join the Jeep palette of vivid, special-run colors.
The standard ADAS suite includes Automatic High Beam Headlamp Control, Full Speed Forward Collision Warning with Advanced brake assist, and Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, in addition to Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross-Path Detection, rearview camera and front & rear Park Assist from the previous model year.
The Wrangler 4xe combines a 2.0-litre (1,995 cc) 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine and an electric motor integrated into the 8-speed automatic transmission. The ICE produces 200 kW (272 metric hp) at 5,250 rpm and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque at 3,000 rpm. The electric motor develops 100 kW (136 metric hp) and 245 Nm (181 lb-ft) of torque. The combined output figures, however, are 280 kW (381 metric hp) and 637 Nm (470 lb-ft) of torque. Jeep claims a 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint time of 6.4 seconds, should you care to know.
And thanks to a 17 kWh Li-NMC battery pack, the Wrangler 4xe claims to offer a pure electric range of up to 50 km (31 mi).
