Toyota has updated the 5th gen RAV4 for the American market for 2022 with a new SE Hybrid trim as well as some exterior and interior updates across all trims. Pricing will be announced in mid-December, but in the meantime, let’s take a brief look at the 2022 updates.
Speaking of which, the SE trim (first two photos) according to Toyota, is for those looking for sporty looks and sporty performance but at a lower price compared with the XSE. It gets monotone paint, fabric-trimmed seats and a 7-inch touchscreen with 6 speakers. There are a bunch of options as well, such as the weather package offering a heated steering wheel, heated front seats and rain-sensing wipers with a de-icer function; and a convenience package that offers a moonroof, height-adjustable power liftgate, and a 9-inch touchscreen.
The RAV4 XSE gets a new Cavalry Blue with a black roof two-tone paint finish—which will also be available in the new SE Hybrid and the existing TRD Off-Road trims at a later date. The LE Hybrid, XLE and XLE Hybrid get a new color for their wheels, as does the Adventure trim, while the XLE Premium Hybrid and Limited Hybrid get a new design, as does the XSE Hybrid. XLE trims and above get updated headlamps. XLE Premium, Limited, Adventure and TRD Off-Road trims get new LED fog lamps. And the XSE Hybrid gets the sleek vertical lights that debuted on the XSE Prime in 2021.
Other interior updates include a locking glove box and LED lamps on all trims, illuminated switches on XLE and above, and an 8-way power passenger seat for the Limited trim. No mechanical updates/changes.
