Yamaha has updated the XSR900 neo-retro motorcycle for 2022 with deliveries to European dealers commencing in February 2022. One of the highlights of the 2022 XSR900 is a larger capacity engine which we’ll talk about in a minute.
Key features include full LED lighting, a 3.5-inch color TFT display, Quick Shifter System (QSS), and electronics such as 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), Traction Control, Slide Control System (SCS), LIF anti wheelie system, and Cruise Control. Suspension duties are handled by a fully adjustable KYB upside-down fork at the front and an adjustable KYB monoshock at the rear. Braking duties are handled by dual 298 mm discs at the front and a single 245 mm disc at the rear. Buyers can choose from Legend Blue and Midnight Black colors.
Powering the 2022 XSR900 is an 889 cc (+43 cc, thanks to 3 mm longer stroke) 3-cylinder engine that pumps out 87.5 kW (119 metric hp) at 10,000 rpm and 93 Nm (68.6 lb-ft) of torque at 7,000 rpm. There’s an increase of 4 metric hp and 5 Nm, thanks to lighter pistons and other improvements. That torque figure is now achieved at 1,500 rpm lower. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
