It never occurred to me that watching building a giant cruise ship could be very satisfying, that is until I discovered a timelapse video of putting together the AIDAnova cruise ship. Built in 2017 by German shipbuilding company Meyer Werft, the LNG-powered cruise ship is owned by Carnival Corporation and operated by its subsidiary AIDA Cruises.
The timelapse video starts with a giant V16 engine assembly, followed by the actual shipbuilding which looks pretty much like putting together giant Lego blocks. Of course, shipbuilding is not as easy as I’m making it sound, but the process of assembling pre-built modules is very satisfying to watch.
