The Kushaq has been fairly well received by the Indian market with over 10,000 bookings already. But Skoda wants to remind the market that it also has the Rapid in its portfolio by launching the Rapid Matte Edition, priced (ex-showroom) at INR 11.99 lakh for the manual variant and INR 13.49 lakh for the automatic variant.
As you can tell, the Matte Edition is all about visual enhancements. The exterior is finished in an exclusive Carbon Steel matte paint—complemented with black elements such as the grille, mirror caps, wheels, bootlid spoiler, and a rear diffuser insert.
The cabin features a Tellur Grey theme with seats upholstered in a combination of black leatherette and Alcantara. The Rapid Matte Edition appears to be based on a mid-spec trim since it gets a 6.5-inch central touchscreen as opposed to an 8-inch unit.
But anyway, the Rapid is powered by a 1.0-litre (999 cc) 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that pumps out 81 kW (110 hp) between 5,000 and 5,250 rpm and 175 Nm (129 lb-ft) of torque between 1,750 and 4,000 rpm. The engine can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
