Ford has commenced local assembly of the all-electric Mustang Mach-E at Changan Ford’s joint venture plant in Chongqing. Customer deliveries are expected to commence by the end of this year. The Mustang Mach-E will be sold in China through Ford’s direct sales network of electric vehicle stores, the company said. Ford also said that it is on track to inaugurate 25 stores in major metropolitan areas by end of this year and expand to more than 100 stores within 5 years.
The order book for the Mach-E RWD (long range), RWD Premium (long range), RWD (standard range) and GT First Edition has opened for the Chinese customers. Those who pay the deposit and sign the purchase contract before December 31, 2021, will be entitled to major benefits such as vehicle and battery system warranty, roadside assistance, new retail finance and replacement plan, and referral bonus, Ford said. The GT First Edition buyers will also get a limited-edition, custom-made gift package.
The Mustang Mach-E RWD (long range) claims to offer a range of up to 619 km (385 mi) as per CLTC (China light-duty vehicle test cycle). The Mach-E GT offers a max output of 359 kW (488 metric hp) and a peak torque of 860 Nm (634 lb-ft), and a 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint time of 3.65 seconds.
