Mitsubishi has revealed the PHEV version of the 4th gen Outlander that debuted earlier this year, but we only have its design to take a look at, at present, since a full reveal is planned for October 28, 2021.
Speaking of the design, well, the Outlander PHEV doesn’t look any different compared with its 2.5L petrol-powered sibling, obviously, except for a rather large “Plug-In Hybrid EV” badge in capital letters on the front doors. There are no stereotypical green or blue accents to suggest that this is a “greener” or “earthier” version. And, the Dynamic Shield looks just as gigantic as it looked in the regular Outlander.
Inside, the instrument cluster would display PHEV-specific information, of course, and the centre console has an EV mode button—suggesting that the Outlander PHEV can be driven in pure-electric mode for short distances. Mitsubishi confirmed that the Outlander PHEV will also offer third-row seating as standard.
