The Kia Forte got facelifted for the Korean market (sold as K3) back in April 2021, but what we are seeing now is for the North American markets—built in Monterrey, Mexico. Pricing and availability are yet to be revealed, but the highlights of the 2022 Forte include revised styling, upgraded onboard technology, and enhanced Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
The 2022 Forte sports sleeker and sharper looks, thanks to new headlights, a new tiger-nose grille, new taillights, revised front and rear bumpers, new 16-inch and 17-inch alloy wheel designs, and a trunk lid spoiler. The photos here showcase the GT trim with subtle red accent lines and LED fog lights housed in the lower grille. Speaking of trims, the 2022 Forte will be available in FE, LXS, GT-Line and GT trims.
The refreshed cabin features a 4.2-inch color MID (standard on all trims); an 8-inch central touchscreen with standard wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto connectivity; a 10.25-inch central touchscreen standard on GT and GT-Line; optional rear USB charger; and optional ‘SynTex’ synthetic leather seat upholstery. The Smart Key now features remote start (standard on GT, GT-Line).
As for ADAS, standard systems include Lane Following Assist, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Driver Attention Warning, Forward Collision Warning, and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA-Pedestrian). Optional systems include Highway Driving Assist, Navigation Based Smart Cruise Control-Curve, Navigation Based Smart Cruise Control-Zone, Safe Exit Warning, Blind Spot Collision Avoidance Assist, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA-Cyclist), and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Avoidance Assist.
Moving on to the juicy bits of the story then, the GT continues to be powered by a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that pumps out 150 kW (204 metric hp) and 265 Nm (195 lb-ft) of torque. The engine can be paired with either a 7-speed DCT or a 6-speed manual transmission. It’ll also continue to get a sport-tuned exhaust.
The rest of the trims settle for a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine with 110 kW (150 metric hp) and 179 Nm (132 lb-ft) of torque. This engine is paired with a CVT.
