Mercedes-Benz has revealed the Maybach S 680 4Matic Edition 100 and GLS 600 4Matic Edition 100 to mark the luxury sub-brand’s centennial. The Maybach Type W3 produced by then Maybach Motorenbau and showcased at the Berlin Motor Show in 1921, is widely regarded as the marque’s first car. After the death of Karl Maybach in 1960, Daimler-Benz took over Maybach Motorenbau. In 2002, Maybach was revived as an independent brand. But anyway, back to the main story, both Edition 100 models are limited to 100 units each, of course.
The S 680 4Matic Edition 100 is painted in high-tech silver and nautical blue two-tone scheme. The brand logo with the inscription “Edition 100” adorns the C-pillar, while the hub caps of the grey finished forged wheels are also decorated with “Edition 100” lettering.
So how do you make an already uber-luxurious cabin more luxurious? You don’t. Which is why the S 680 4Matic Edition 100 gets designo crystal white and silver grey pearl combo leather upholstery, and “Edition 100” branding on the door sills, dashboard and a couple more places.
It’s the same deal with the GLS 600 4Matic Edition 100 SUV. Its exterior is finished in high-tech silver and nautical blue two-tone paint scheme, complemented with “Edition 100” branding on the D-pillar and wheel hub caps.
Again, inside, the special edition gets designo crystal white and silver grey pearl combo leather theme, complemented with subtle “Edition 100” branding. The rest of the features will remain the same, of course.
A car cover with the double M logo and a leather-wrapped handmade case to store keys and papers round off the package.
