Kia has updated the Niro lineup for 2022 for the U.S. market. The lineup includes the Niro EV, the Niro Hybrid, and of course, the Niro Plug-In Hybrid, with prices starting at $39,990, $24,690 and $29,590, respectively. The Niro EV remains eligible for a $7,500 Federal tax credit along with any applicable state and local incentives. But anyway, the updates are mostly about the cars getting new Kia logos, along with some other changes as well—which we’ll talk about in a minute.

As for the powertrain, the Niro Hybrid combines a 1.6L petrol engine with an electric motor for a combined output of 104 kW (141 metric hp) and 264 Nm (195 lb-ft) of torque. The Niro HEV is claimed to deliver an estimated 50 MPG combined fuel economy.

The Niro PHEV too combines a 1.6L petrol engine with an electric motor for a combined output of 104 kW (141 metric hp) and 264 Nm (195 lb-ft) of torque. Since it’s a PHEV, it gets an 8.9 kWh lithium-ion battery pack as well. Kia estimates a combined 46 MPG fuel economy. EPA-estimated all-electric range continues to be 26 miles (42 km).

The 2022 Niro EV comes with a 10.25-inch touchscreen as standard, and so are Navigation, UVO link, Sirius XM satellite radio and Harman Kardon audio system.

The Niro EV’s electric motor develops 150 kW (204 metric hp) and 395 Nm (291 lb-ft), drawing juice from a 64 kWh battery pack that is estimated to offer a range of up to 239 miles (385 km).
