President’s office: f*ck the pandemic, let’s get the new Pullman.
As part of the COVID-19 cost-cutting measures last year, the President of India’s office had reportedly cancelled the purchase of the W222 series-based Mercedes-Maybach S 600 Pullman Guard—as a replacement for the W221-based Pullman Guard. Not completely sure if things have gotten better in the country, but the President’s office was probably like—”you know what? f*ck that sh*t, let’s pull some funds somehow and get the new Pullman”.
The President seems to be thoroughly enjoying the lounge seats in his new Pullman Guard, as a few images have surfaced online. The W222 Mercedes-Maybach S 600 Pullman was globally revealed in 2018; the Guard armoured version reportedly offers VR9-level protection. The Pullman is available in two variants: S 600 and S 650; both powered by a 6.0L (5,980 cc) V12 biturbo petrol engine that offers 530 metric hp and 630 metric hp, respectively.
For those who want an armoured S-Class based on the new W223 series, there’s only the S 680 Guard at the present time.
