Looks familiar?
That’s right, Mahindra is not giving up on the sub-4 metre SUV segment just yet. Despite multiple failures in this weird Indian segment, the company appears to be determined to make it happen. And so, the latest attempt is this Bolero Neo, with prices starting at INR 8.48 lakh, ex-showroom, Pan India.
Trim | Ex-showroom price |
N4 | 8,48,001 |
N8 | 9,47,999 |
N10 | 9,99,900 |
N10 (O) | TBA |
What’s that? The Bolero Neo looks familiar? Well, that’s because the Bolero Neo is TUV300 with a “neo” name. You see, the ‘Bolero’ has better brand recognition, brand value and all those sorts of branding things compared to TUV300 which sounds like some kind of a rating for a water purifier. The point is, the Bolero sounds much better compared to TUV300, and so, Mahindra wants to give it another shot.
Anyway, the features list includes LED running lights, 15-inch alloy wheels, a 7-inch touchscreen, manual AC, cruise control, and safety features such as two front airbags, front seatbelt reminder, ABS with EBD, cornering brake control, rear parking sensors, and rear defogger. As for the juicy bits, the Bolero Neo will be available only with a diesel engine at launch. It’s the same 1,493 cc 3-cylinder mHAWK100 unit with 75.3 kW (102 metric hp) at 3,750 rpm and 260 Nm (192 lb-ft) of torque between 1,750-2,250 rpm. There’s 20 Nm more compared to the TUV300. A 5-speed manual gearbox drives the rear wheels. The upcoming N10 (O) trim will offer a manually lockable rear differential.
