Gets only what’s essential.
The Suzuki Jimny! That’s right, that little off-roading rascal apparently wanted by everyone on this planet, is getting a ‘Lite’ version for the Australian market “due to increasingly overwhelming demand”. And, Suzuki is not lying; I’m told by someone from Australia that the demand for Jimnys is way too high than Suzuki’s production capabilities and as a result, people are flipping them at prices close to US$ 40,000. Earlier this year, Suzuki began assembling Jimnys in India for export markets, but still, unable to fully meet the global demand.
So, what’s this “Jimny Lite” all about? Well, it’s basically a base model of the regular Jimny (Jimny Sierra), if you will. As the name suggests, Suzuki has deleted some features to make it lighter on your bank account. These include halogen projector headlights as opposed to LEDs, no standard fog lamps, and 15-inch steel wheels. Inside, there’s not gonna be a touchscreen but a Radio/CD player with Bluetooth connectivity; and a manual AC as opposed to climate control in the regular model.
The Jimny Lite will still be a capable off-roader, but it’ll be available only with a manual transmission. The Jimny Lite is expected to go on sale in Australia from August 2021.
Michael Pachota – General Manager for Suzuki Australia said that the company will maintain a fair allocation process based on customer orders with a queue system as it has done with the current Jimny.
