Toyota has revealed the North American version of the first-ever Corolla Cross that debuted last year in Thailand. The compact crossover will be available in L, LE, and XLE trims, and unlike the Thai-spec model, the American version gets AWD options.
Features list includes LED headlights & taillights, up to 18-inch alloy wheels, a power moonroof, single- or dual-zone automatic climate control, 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support, heating function for front seats, 60/40-split folding rear seats, an 8-inch central touchscreen, Apple CarPlay & Android Auto connectivity, a 7-inch MID with digital instrumentation, wireless smartphone charging, and two USB charging ports for rear seat passengers.
Options include a 9-speaker JBL audio system. As for active safety and driver assistance, the Corolla Cross comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense suite. It includes Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert, and Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. Passive safety includes 9 airbags.
As for suspension, it’s fully independent for all-wheel-drive models, while front-wheel-drive variants get a new torsion beam system in the rear, Toyota said.
For America, the Corolla Cross is powered by a 2.0L 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine with 126 kW (171 metric hp) and 203 Nm (150 lb-ft) of torque. The engine is paired with a CVT. Additionally, Toyota claims that every Corolla Cross is capable of towing up to 680 kg (1,500 lbs).
