Buick has updated the Enclave mid-size crossover for 2022 with revised styling and additional standard features. It is scheduled to go on sale in America in fall 2021. The photos here showcase the range-topping Avenir trim.
For 2022, the Enclave has gone for a dual-lamp setup where the main headlights are positioned lower in the bumper and the running lights occupy the space where you’d traditionally find the headlights. There’s a revised front grille too with a chrome bar that runs into the running lights. The side profile remains fairly unchanged except for a new set of 20-inch rims, while at the rear, there are new taillights and a revised bumper design.
The refreshed cabin features a new dashboard, a new centre console with shift-by-wire transmission buttons, a new steering wheel, and new premium soft-touch materials throughout the cabin. Buyers can go for the optional heated, ventilated and massaging front seats.
More standard active safety
For 2022, Buick claims to offer ‘Driver Confidence Plus’ suite that includes 9 standard active safety systems: Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, Rear Park Assist, Forward Collision Alert, Following Distance Indicator, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and IntelliBeam Auto High Beam. Except for the IntelliBeam, the 2021 model already offers all of the above mentioned systems, but for 2022, Buick claims to offer them as standard.
The Avenir trim gets Adaptive Cruise Control too. Other options include interior rear camera mirror, HD surround vision, color Head-Up Display, and Continuous Damping Control — active suspension technology.
The Enclave continues to be powered by a 3.5L V6 petrol engine that develops 231 kW (314 metric hp) at 6,800 rpm and 361 Nm (266 lb-ft) of torque at 2,800 rpm. A 9-speed automatic gearbox drives the front wheels; AWD is optional.
