Also, Mercedes-Benz has announced the official output figures of both powertrains. The S 580 is powered by a 4.0L (3,982 cc) V8 biturbo motor that pumps out 370 kW (503 metric hp) at 5,500 rpm and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque between 2,000-4,500 rpm. The EQ boost mild-hybrid system adds 15 kW (20 metric hp) and 200 Nm (147 lb-ft) for short periods. A 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint is claimed to happen in 4.8 seconds.
The big daddy S 680 featured above, packs a 6.0L (5,980 cc) V12 biturbo motor, pumping out 450 kW (612 metric hp) between 5,250-5,500 rpm and 900 Nm of torque between 2,000-4,000. There’s no EQ boost here. This model is claimed to sprint from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.5 seconds. The top speed on both models is limited to 250 km/h (155 mph).
