It’s a healthy ‘competition’
Audi has updated the A1, A4, A5, Q7 and Q8 models for 2022, which includes competition and competition plus packages that up the visual oomph factor besides, of course, the price tag.
The S line competition package for the A1 Sportback includes Mythos Black roof and side rocker panels; Singleframe grille in matte Black with the grille frame in high-gloss Black; rings and badges in Black, and darkened LED headlights and LED taillights. Those who pick the Ascari Blue paint option (exclusive to 40 TFSI) will get the front spoiler blade, side mirror caps and the diffuser clip in matte Platinum Gray; rear spoiler in Mythos black, and laminated rings above the rocker panels — also in Platinum Gray. Buyers can also go for 18-inch wheels.
Inside, the S line models get Red stitching and Red accents. For the front sport seats, buyers can choose between a combination of fabric and leatherette or Alcantara and leatherette. Both options feature Red stitching.
Also, the A1 Sportback 40 TFSI now gets an output of 152 kW (207 metric hp), which is 5 kW more.
The A1 Sportback S line competition is available to order in Germany, with prices starting at €27,470.
The A4 and A5 models are available with S line competition and S line competition plus packages. The competition in the A4 combines the S line exterior package with a Black package, which includes a matte radiator grille, a blade, a strip to protect from stone chipping, an S4 spoiler as well as the Audi rings in the Singleframe grille, all in Black. 19-inch cast wheels round off the package. The competition plus package includes LED headlights, Black side mirror caps, illuminated door sills with aluminum inlays, and an ambient lighting package. All 150 kW (204 metric hp) versions get Red calipers. The options for 2022 also include the roof in Brilliant Black.
The packages are similar for the A5 too except that the wheels are 20-inches. Prices in Germany start at €38,250 for the A4 S line competition, €45,400 for A4 S line competition plus, €43,200 for A5 S line competition and €49,600 for A5 competition plus.
Alright, next up are the fat Q family models — the Q7 and the Q8, which get the S line competition plus package. The Q7 gets Black elements, while the Q8 gets a carbon bumper highlighting the sporty nature of the SUV. The carbon package for the Q7 adds carbon mirror caps and door inlays. Both competition models are equipped with Red brake calipers and welcome passengers with an LED projection of the S logo. Both SUVs roll off the production line with 21-inch aluminum wheels. However, the Q7 can be ordered with 22-inch and the Q8 with 23-inch wheels.
The cabin can be optioned with Red decorative stitching on the seats and steering wheel, and carbon decorative inlays. These are complemented with a carbon insert on the shifter.
Both Q7 and Q8 competition plus models are available to order in Germany from June 2021, with prices starting at €78,170 and €84,500, respectively.
