Nissan is launching a special edition of GT-R Nismo, scheduled to go on sale in Japan and North America this fall. Pricing will be announced at a later date, but Nissan said that the special edition will be available in “very limited numbers”.
The special edition is mostly about the visual oomph factor. The exterior of the car is finished in an exclusive Stealth Gray paint, contrasted with a clear-coated carbon fibre hood. Other carbon fibre parts such as the front spoiler, fender louvres, rocker panels, rear wing, rear bumper, and roof have been carried over from the regular Nismo model. Also, the car rides on exclusive 20-inch Rays forged aluminum-alloy wheels with red pinstriping.
The cabin remains unchanged from the regular Nismo model and so are the technical bits. The 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6, hand-assembled by master technicians known as takumi, develops 447 kW (600 metric hp) and 652 Nm (481 lb-ft) of torque. However, Nissan says that the VR38DETT engine in the special edition utilizes high-precision, weight-balanced parts for the piston rings, connecting rods, crankshaft, and valve gear components dialled in with tighter tolerances, delivering snappier engine revs and quicker turbo spooling.
