The Kia Sonet might be a wussy sub-4 metre wannabe “SUV” in India, but in Indonesia, it is just over 120 mm longer (4,120 mm). Apparently, it is long enough to cram a third-row of seats and that’s what Kia’s Indonesian arm has done. Christened ‘Sonet 7’, the vehicle offers up to 7 seats.
As demonstrated in the pictures above, the third-row can be folded away when not in use. And, when the third-row seats are up, the luggage space is non-existent. Also, notice the adjustable headrests on the third-row seats. Interestingly, the wheelbase of the 7-seater remains the same at 2,500 mm, which is the same on the Indian version as well.
In Indonesia, the Sonet is powered by a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine with 85 kW (115 metric hp) and 144 Nm (106 lb-ft) of torque on offer. The engine can be paired with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a CVT.
