At last year’s Beijing Motor Show, Honda showcased the SUV e:concept, which was a 2-door coupe-SUV. At this year’s Auto Shanghai show, Honda is showcasing yet another concept with a confusing, inside-out sounding name. It’s called the SUV e:prototype. I mean, why can’t we simply call it the Honda e SUV prototype? Also, it is unclear if the concept that was showcased in Beijing got promoted to a “prototype”.
Either way, the SUV e:prototype looks a bit serious compared to the SUV e:concept of last year. Also, it has got two extra doors and is not a coupe. The styling might remind you of the new HR-V/Vezel that we saw in Feb 2021. Honda is planning to introduce 10 BEV models in China within the next 5 years and the SUV e:prototype is one of them, which is scheduled to go on sale in spring 2022.
Honda hasn’t shared any technical details of this model yet, but we can expect that later this year or in early 2022.
