Don’t you wish your commercial van was “hot” like this?
Why should only the hatchbacks, sedans and SUVs have all the fun with “hot” versions that can play a dual role? Apparently, there shouldn’t be any discrimination among vehicle types, which is why Volkswagen has launched the Transporter T6.1 Sportline in Europe, with prices in the UK starting from £42,940.
That’s right, the Transporter T6.1 Sportline commercial van will be available in short or long wheelbase versions, and as either a Kombi (cargo + people) or Panel Van (cargo only). The exterior of the vehicle can be finished in Indium Grey, Fortana Red, Ravenna Blue, or Copper Bronze colors. The van also gets a sporty front bumper, a red contrast grille strip, a rear spoiler, 18-inch alloy wheels in gloss black, and illuminated side bars. Rounding off the sporty looks is a 30 mm lowered suspension. Options include Eibach coilover suspension.
The cabin gets seats upholstered in Nappa leather with suede inserts, honeycomb stitching and a Sportline logo branding. Other features would include Discover Media Pro Navigation (9.2-inch central touchscreen), DAB radio, climatic air conditioning, front windscreen heating, and assistance systems including Adaptive Cruise Control with City Emergency Braking, LED headlights with high beam assist, and front and rear parking sensors.
The Transporter T6.1 Sportline is powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder TDI engine with 150 kW (204 metric hp) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque, paired with a 7-speed DSG. The commercial van claims a top speed of 203 km/h (126 mph) and a 0-100 km/h (62 mph) time of 8.9 seconds, should such things tickle your pickle.
