Tata Motors’ commercial division has launched a new range of intermediate and light commercial trucks (I&LCV) called the Ultra Sleek T-Series, available in three models — T.6, T.7 and T.9. The Ultra Sleek range is available in varied deck lengths from 10- to 20-feet and in 4-tyre and 6-tyre combinations.
These trucks are claimed to offer significantly lower Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) levels, ease of movement on congested and narrow roads and a fatigue-free driving experience. Other features include clear-lens headlights, LED taillights, parabolic leaf suspension, and air brakes.
Features in the cabin include height-adjustable driver seat, tilt & telescopic power steering, an in-built music system, and a USB charging port. The gear lever is mounted on the dashboard for better ergonomics.
The trucks are powered by a 3.0-litre (2,956 cc) 4-cylinder 4SPCR BS6-compliant diesel engine that develops 74 kW (100 metric hp) at 2,800 rpm and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) of torque between 1,200-2,200 rpm. The engine is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
