Better late than never
An interesting fact is that the Jaguar I-Pace is the first premium electric SUV from Europe; it debuted months ahead of the EQC and e-tron SUV. But, for obvious reasons, it never made it to India, until today. Now that Indians are slowly accepting EVs including the EQC, Jaguar wants to give it a shot with the I-Pace. Prices start at INR 1.06 crore (US$ 146,483), ex-showroom.
Trim | Ex-showroom price |
S | INR 1,05,91,013 |
SE | INR 1,08,14,490 |
HSE | INR 1,12,28,877 |
The starting price is almost identical to the Mercedes EQC ex-showroom price in the country.
The I-Pace received some updates in June 2020, after a long time, with new colors, wheel designs and upgraded onboard technology. More here. The I-Pace will be available in three trims in India: S, SE and HSE. Depending on the trim, exterior features would include 19-inch wheels, Matrix LED headlights, animated turn signals, LED taillights, and a powered gesture tailgate. A full-length fixed panoramic glass roof is standard across all trims. Passive safety includes standard 6 airbags. There are a total of 12 exterior colors (2 solid, 10 metallic) to pick from, including Red, Blue and Black.
Depending on the trim, features in the cabin include Windsor leather sport seats, 16-way power-adjustable heated and cooled front seats with memory, 10-inch Pivi Pro central touchscreen, 5.5-inch lower touchscreen (optional), a 12.3-inch digital driver display, a Head-up Display, Meridian 3D surround sound system, two-zone climate control, and safety and driver assistance systems such as Emergency Brake Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control. Electronic Air Suspension can be picked-up from the options list and so is the Active Suspension that automatically lowers the car by 10 mm when traveling at speeds in excess of 105 km/h (65 mph). Moving on to the juicy bits of the story, the I-Pace is an all-wheel-drive EV with a permanent magnet motor at each axle, developing a combined 294 kW (400 metric hp) and 696 Nm (513 lb-ft) of torque. Its 90 kWh lithium-ion battery pack is good for a range of up to 470 km (292 mi) as per WLTP standards. For those interested to know, the I-Pace is claimed to sprint from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.8 seconds.
The car comes with a 11 kW 3-phase on-board charger. The battery pack is capable of accepting up to 60 kW DC charge rate. A typical 50 kW charger can deliver up to 270 km (168 mi) of range per hour, Jaguar said.
Jaguar is offering 8 years or 1,60,000 km battery warranty.
