Cadillac has revealed the V-Series Blackwing models that’ll slot above the CT4-V and CT5-V sedans as the most powerful Cadillacs ever. The Blackwings will be available in the U.S. market late summer 2021 as 2022 models, with a base price tag of $59,990 for CT4-V Blackwing and $83,995 for the CT5-V Blackwing.
On the exterior, the cars get carbon-fibre packages that include front splitter, side skirts, a bootlid spoiler, and a rear diffuser. These aero bits are claimed to significantly reduce lift and improve high-speed handling and control. Also, the CT4-V Blackwing and CT5-V Blackwing ride on 18-inch and 19-inch alloy wheels, respectively. The wheels are shod with high-performance summer tires. Besides the standard grey finish, the Brembo calipers can be painted in red, blue or bronze as well. Carbon ceramic rotors are available on the CT5-V Blackwing.
As with the standard V-Series models, the Blackwings also get the latest generation Magnetic Ride Control suspension.
For the cabin, buyers can go for the optional high-performance steering wheel with carbon-fibre trim and a unique serialized plate featuring a laser-etched engraving of the VIN; high-performance seats with carbon-fibre seatbacks; microfibre headliner; and additional carbon-fibre interior bits. The optional Head-Up Display too gets a Blackwing-specific theme.
There’s also an optional Performance Data Recorder that captures many parameters including engine speed, braking force, steering angle, and in-cabin audio. It also captures video in 1080p which can be played back in the central display. It’s not all optional though, both cars get 12-inch HD driver display and AKG premium audio system as standard; the latter comes with 14 and 15 speakers for CT4-V Blackwing and CT5-V Blackwing, respectively.
Moving on to the business end of the story, the CT4-V Blackwing is powered by a 3.6L twin-turbo V6 with an estimated output of 352 kW (478 metric hp) and 603 Nm (445 lb-ft) of torque. The CT5-V Blackwing on the other side packs a massive 6.2L Supercharged V8 with an estimated output of 498 kW (677 metric hp) and 893 Nm (659 lb-ft) of torque. Both engines are paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard, while a 10-speed automatic is available as an option.
The CT4-V Blackwing claims a 0-60 mph (96.5 km/h) sprint time of 3.8 seconds while the CT5-V Blackwing can do the same 0.1 seconds quicker, should you need to know. Both cars get Launch Control with Line Lock function.
