Much before the Fortuner, it was the Tata Safari the powerful in India used to flaunt their power with. From politicians to religious pimps, the Safari has served them all. Which is probably why Tata Motors has decided to bring back the iconic nameplate for its new flagship SUV.
In case you couldn’t figure that out already, the new Safari is nothing but a 7-seater version of the Harrier, which was initially revealed as ‘Buzzard‘ and later as ‘Gravitas‘. Besides the obvious branding thing, the stepped roof design and the rising window line totally makes sense to bring back the safari nameplate.
We are proud and elated to re-introduce our flagship SUV Safari. The Safari, an iconic brand with a strong following, has been the most sought after SUV on Indian roads for well over two decades. We are confident that the launch of the Safari will once again re-energize the market, amplifying its cult status. – Shailesh Chandra – President, PVBU, Tata Motors
