Punjab-based tractor maker Sonalika has launched the ‘Tiger Electric’, claimed to be India’s first field-ready electric tractor, priced at INR 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Interestingly, Mahindra & Mahindra, a major player in both the tractor and EV segments in India, don’t have one yet.
The Tiger Electric is an electric version of the brand’s newly-launched diesel-powered Tiger tractor, and hence features a similar front fascia with twin-barrel LED headlamps. Features include an LCD driver display.
As for the technical details, well, the electric motor develops max and peak outputs of 10.5 kW (14.3 metric hp) and 21.3 kW (29 metric hp), respectively. It has a top speed of about 25 km/h (15.5 mph). The tractor claims a lifting capacity of up to 500 kg (1,102 lbs).
