Tesla CEO Elon Musk revealed on Twitter that “during the darkest days of the Model 3”, he reached out to Tim Cook to discuss the possibility of Apple acquiring Tesla for 1/10 of the latter’s current value, but Tim refused to take the meeting. The “darkest days” he’s referring to was of course, between 2017-2018 when the company was battling Model 3 production bottlenecks which resulted in many canceling their orders.
During the darkest days of the Model 3 program, I reached out to Tim Cook to discuss the possibility of Apple acquiring Tesla (for 1/10 of our current value). He refused to take the meeting.

Musk revealed the information in response to a tweet about Apple’s plans to build an ‘iCar’. Not completely sure if Apple is working on an EV, but in 2017, Tim Cook in a Bloomberg interview had confirmed that the company is working on autonomous technology. Which is probably why Musk reached out to Tim to check whether Apple wants some or all of Tesla.
I, for one, am glad this did not happen.
