The 2021 Ford F-150 lineup is now joined by the ‘Tremor’, which claims to offer even greater off-roading capabilities. It’ll be available in the U.S. market next summer.
As for visual differentiation, the F-150 Tremor features a unique grille with a blacked-out Ford oval, flanked by Active Orange line on either side. The same color can be found on the front tow hooks and on the Tremor badges as well.
The truck also gets Raptor-inspired off-road fixed running boards, matte-finished 18-inch wheels wrapped with 33-inch General Grabber all-terrain tires, and a Raptor-style front skid plate. The Tremor has an inch wider stance.
The upgraded suspension starts with retuned springs front and rear for added ground clearance. Front hub knuckles and upper control arms are revised while Tremor-specific monotube shocks at the front, and twin tube shocks at the rear are tuned for softer damping at low speeds, with additional damping and control for more severe off-road events, Ford said.
Thanks to all these modifications, the F-150 Tremor boasts an approach, breakover and departure angles of 27.6-, 21.2- and 24.3-degrees, respectively. Also, the Tremor has 1.5-inches more total travel at the rear and an additional inch of total travel at the front.
A locking rear differential comes standard, while the optional Torsen limited-slip front differential will be available at a later date.
The cabin features Active Orange highlights and of course, Tremor branding. Functional off-road hardware extends into the cabin, with a 6-position auxiliary power switch pack mounted in the overhead console, enabling owners to add off-road winches and air compressors. A variety of off-road lighting options can be dealer-installed on all models.
Power comes from a 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 engine with 298 kW (405 metric hp) and 678 Nm (500 lb-ft) of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic gearbox and standard four-wheel drive. Options include Trail One-Pedal Drive, Trail Turn Assist, and Trail Control.
The F-150 Tremor has a maximum tow rating of 10,900 lbs (4,944 kg).
