It appears that Mahindra has abruptly (or, temporarily?) discontinued the entry-level AX Standard and AX trims (two petrol and one diesel variant) of the 2nd gen Thar without any announcement. The official website now lists only AX Optional and LX trims (10 variants in total). The brochure has been updated as well. Download here.
The entry-level AX trims were 6-seaters with side-facing rear seats and a fixed softtop. Apparently, there are not a lot of takers for them.
The Thar prices now start at INR 11,90,000. Mahindra recently made an announcement that the bookings have crossed 20,000 with the waiting period ranging between 5 to 7 months depending on the trim. It is possible that the (bookings for the) entry-level trims have been temporarily discontinued to make space in the production line.

M&M has also put up a public announcement regarding the production challenges due to the overwhelming demand and that the production is being ramped-up from 2,000 units per month to 3,000.
Also, the company delivered 500 Thars across the country between November 7 and 8th.
