Buick is having a good time in the Chinese market and wants to strengthen its presence in every segment. On November 19, 2020, the 2021 GL6 MPV will officially go on sale in the country with an updated interior and a mild-hybrid powertrain.
The 2021 model features a floating, widescreen display, powered by Buick eConnect 3.0 software. The widescreen comprises a standard 10.25-inch LED instrument cluster and a touchscreen next to it. The central touchscreen features a card-style User Interface for ease of use.
Other features include a new three-spoke steering wheel, a standard panoramic sunroof, Buick Live Sound audio system, PM2.5 air filtration, and a suite of active safety features including Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning, Side Blind Zone Alert and Automatic Parking Assist.
The second-row seats come with independent armrests, while the third-row seats have been improved with a more natural seating position, Buick said. The cargo space can be expanded to 1,521-liters when the second- and third-row seats are folded down.
Powering the 2021 GL6 MPV is a 1.3-litre (1,349 cc) 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine coupled with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system for the typical stuff such as energy recuperation, start-stop, and electric power-assist. The petrol engine offers 120 kW (163 hp) and 230 Nm (170 lb-ft) of torque, and is paired with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
