The Audi Q2 facelift is now joined by the hotter SQ2 variant, with prices starting at €45,700 in Germany (includes 19% VAT). Deliveries are scheduled to commence in early 2021.
The regular Q2 facelift already looks sporty enough, especially the Q2 ‘Edition One’ with black accents, which is why the SQ2 doesn’t have to work that hard to impress. However, it does manage to look a touch more sporty with those wheels, S sport suspension with 20 mm lowered ride height, and quad exhaust tailpipes.
As standard, the tiny crossover rides on 18-inch alloy wheels, while 19-inch ones from Audi Sport can be found in the options list. The brake discs measure 340 mm at the front and 310 mm at the rear; the calipers can be painted red as an option.
The cabin tries to distinguish itself from the regular Q2 with a sporty steering wheel, some red accents and model-specific graphics in the displays. Audi will offer four packages for the upholstery and colors; one of which is a fine Nappa leather with a rhombus pattern.
The standard progressive steering is geared in such a way that its steering ratio becomes more direct as the angle increases, Audi said.
Moving on to the business end of the story, the SQ2 is powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder TFSI (turbo petrol) motor that develops 221 kW (300 hp) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque — same as the outgoing model. A 7-speed S tronic gearbox drives all four wheels via quattro AWD system.
The sporty crossover is claimed to sprint from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.9 seconds and on to a limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph), should you be interested to know.
