Audi has launched another special edition TT, again exclusive for the German market. It’s called the TT RS 40 Jahre quattro, and as the name suggests, it is to celebrate 40 years of quattro. As a result, only 40 units will be made, with each carrying a price tag of €114,040.
As the name suggests, the special edition is based on the TT RS and adds aerodynamic elements in addition to some decals. The exterior is finished in Alpine White paint with the lower half in Black. As for the decals, the color combo is inspired by the livery on the Audi Sport quattro S1 that Walter Röhrl drove to victory in 1987 at the Pikes Peak race in the United States. The 20-inch wheels are also painted in White, while the Red calipers add the necessary contrast.
The aerodynamic elements perfectly balance the car with only around 9 kg (20 lbs) of uplift at the front axle and around 5 kg (11 lbs) of downforce at the rear axle at maximum speed, Audi said.
The interior gets the Alpine White touches, with the centre console featuring the heritage decals. The seats feature “40 years of quattro” embroidery over the Alcantara surface, and of course, White contrast stitching. The gear shifter features the limited edition numbering to reassure the driver that he/she is indeed driving a special edition.
As an option, the buyer can replace the rear bench with a strut cross brace made of carbon-fibre, which cuts down the weight by around 16 kg (35 lbs).
As you might have guessed, there are no mechanical changes. The 2.5-litre 5-cylinder TFSI petrol engine develops 400 metric hp (294 kW) and 480 Nm (354 lb-ft) of torque. A 7-speed S tronic gearbox sends power to all four wheels via quattro AWD system. The car is claimed to sprint from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 280 km/h (174 mph).
