Looks like Mahindra has priced the trims carefully. As we can see, there’s a wide range of options for the buyer, however, the automatic gearbox is not available in the lower-spec AX trims, which we already knew anyway. In case you missed it, read about the new Thar in detail here.
The diesel-powered Thar packs a 2.2-litre (2,184 cc) 4-cylinder turbocharged mHawk 130 engine that develops 132 hp (97 kW) at 3,750 rpm and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) of torque between 1,600-2,800 rpm. The petrol Thar packs a 2.0-litre (1,997 cc) 4-cylinder turbocharged mStallion 150 engine that pumps out 152 hp (112 kW) at 5,000 rpm and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) of torque between 1,250-3,000 rpm. Depending on the trim, gearbox will either be a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic. 4WD with a manual transfer case is standard across all trims. Download the brochure here.
