Seat is offering a 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine on its Ibiza hatchback as the buyers were apparently demanding something that offers a bit more. The new engine which has now entered production, will join the existing lineup of 1.0L TSI and 1.6L TDI engines.
The 1,498 cc 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine develops 150 metric hp (110 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque. Most importantly, it is paired with a 7-speed DSG. With this engine, the Ibiza is claimed to sprint from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 8.2 seconds and on to a top speed of 219 km/h (136 mph).
Since its launch in 1984, the Ibiza has sold more than 5.9 million units. The new powertrain is expected to push this number even higher.
